Ben was an interactive designer at a large North Florida advertising agency for nearly five years before he (literally) walked away to hike 1,500+ miles of the Appalachian Trail. Five months in the wilderness provided ample opportunity for contemplation, and it became clear that Ben could not, in good conscience, return and continue to work for any industry that fuels rampant consumerism and global capitalism. Since then, he has worked on education, transportation, and environmental web and print projects, helped non-profits establish organizational identities, and led successful design campaigns for numerous local businesses. In 2008 Ben made the cross-country jump to the Bay Area, heading for the intersection of his professional creative career and passion for socially conscious work. In the Fall of 2009 Ben found a perfect fit working with Free Range Studios in Berkeley, California and has since joined their team as a full time designer.
